Happy New Year!
I just wanted to send you a note wishing you the best of 2023! I’ve been super busy, having been in the path of Hurricane Ian and helping some friends who lost most everything, so I don’t have anything imminently coming out to report. I have been working on a romantic mystery, though, set in Louisiana with thwarted love, murder, and evocative surroundings. I hope to release that sometime this year. Part of what’s kept me busy this past year was turning my book UNFORGIVABLE into a screenplay. That’s been quite the endeavor! Turning 400-plus pages into a 120 page script is a big learning experience, let me tell you. I’ve been working with a gentleman who’s in the business and has been helping me, and I’m hoping to attract a producer who will take it on and shop it. I will keep you informed! And most of the fall, the hurricane. We were blessed with Ian, as we live on a river (small, but still). The river rose right up to our deck, but thank God didn’t come up any higher. We lost a lot of branches, a couple of trees, a bunch of shingles (sounded like gorillas on our roof!), and our boat, which we kept at a Ft. Myers Beach marina. We stayed for the fun, which was much safer than trying to evacuate from way down in south Florida. We lost power for just more than three days, but it was cool after the cold front, so we didn’t suffer too much. But our area was devastated along the coast (Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel and Captiva, Pine Island, and Matlacha to name a few areas), and it’s going to be a long road to recovery. It’s heartbreaking. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season! Ours was quiet, and when I saw the travel nightmare on the news, I’m glad we didn't have to go anywhere. Maybe at some point if we have distant grandchildren, we’ll be tempted, but no way for now. You may know that I’m also a literary agent, and I’ve shepherded some great books to publication that are out in the next few months. In March, look for The Wisdom of Wildly Creative Women by Angela LoMenzo, which showcases twenty-six amazing, strong, creative women who share their travails, traumas, successes, and inspiration with beautiful photos. Also coming for the diet-conscious folks, another great DIRTY LAZY KETO book by Stephanie Laska, who makes the keto diet fun and loose and easy. But always remember that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be right now. Don’t be hard on yourself, just make goals and love yourself right to them. Thank you for being part of my newsletter! Cheers, Tina Wainscott
